Baking with The Dusty Knuckle Bakery
New Regents College Students Dive into the World of Baking for Transformative Work Experience
New Regents College Year 10 students recently wrapped up their Engage programme with an enriching day of work experience at The Dusty Knuckle Bakery. The Dusty Knuckle is a bakery and café located in London’s Dalston and Harringay neighbourhoods. A purpose-driven business striving to use its busy operations to help at-risk youth take forward steps in their lives through on-the-job training and mentorship.
Beginning in the heart of the kitchen, the students delved into the bustling bakery led by the vibrant Youth Training Programme Manager, Charlie. Surrounded by the comforting scent of fresh bread, they observed skilled bakers crafting delicious loaves. The journey continued to the upper floors, exploring the pastry section and gaining insights into the diverse roles contributing to the bakery's success.
A visit to the office provided valuable exposure to social media management and other administrative roles. Venturing to the rooftop for breathtaking views of East London, the students engaged in a hands-on baking session in the Bakery School.
They concluded the day with insights from inspiring co-founder, Max Tobias’, on his entrepreneurial journey. Filled with inspiration, the students bid farewell to The Dusty Knuckle Bakery, expressing gratitude for the unforgettable experience and delicious treats.
A heartfelt thank you to the bakery for opening its doors to these aspiring young entrepreneurs. Until the next adventure, may the aroma of freshly baked bread and the spirit of entrepreneurship continue to inspire dreams and passions!
