community-led consortiums

Spiral Skills is a proud founding partner to two Lambeth based consortiums.

The Ecosystem Coldharbour Consortium, funded by the London Mayor’s Violence Reduction Unit, aims to address root causes of violence affecting young people and the community by providing positive opportunities and tailored interventions. Recently honoured with the ‘Lambeth Made Safer’ Civic Award, the consortium has:

  • Empowered 25 young leaders undertaking youth work in their community and influencing improved police and council engagement.

  • Invested in 35 entrepreneurs with £92K worth of funding, complimented by a curriculum of training to continue their growth and sustainability.

  • Improved access to therapeutic and wellbeing services

  • Engaged 2000 local residents across 350 events sharing their experiences and aspirations to help their community feel safer

    The Ecosystem Coldharbour Consortium is led by ML Community Enterprise, supported by CHIPS, Ebony Horse Club, The Baytree Centre and Spiral Skills.

Building Young Brixton (BYB) is a collaborative effort of 10 diverse Lambeth-based charities, with a collective 100+ years of experience. Established in 2016, BYB has inspired and empowered over 2500 young people in Brixton over the past 5 years. The vision of BYB is for young people in Lambeth to thrive through the achievement of 5 major outcomes:
1. Increase in school involvement
2. Increase in community involvement
3. Increase in employability & employment
4. Improvement in personal relationships
5. Increase in emotional and physical wellbeing

The BYB partnership is led by High Trees Community Development Trust, supported by The Baytree Centre, Big Kid Foundation, Ebony Horse Club, Grove Adventure Playground, Indoamerican Refugee & Migrant Organisation (IRMO), Juvenis, Marcus Lipton Community Enterprise (MLCE), Spiral Skills and Step Now.
