What is the Summer Jobs Programme?
The UK Youth Summer Jobs Programme is a six-week paid work experience in collaboration with the Youth Endowment Fund, IFF Research, Youth Futures Foundation and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport, the opportunity is for young people living in Lambeth or Wandsworth borough aged 16-20. It’s designed to help you gain real workplace skills, earn money, and get support from a youth worker while exploring different career options.
Here’s how it works:
✅ One week of paid preparation – You’ll take part in training to get you ready for your job placement.
✅ Five weeks of paid work experience – You’ll work in a real job, gaining valuable experience.
✅ Ongoing support – A youth worker will be there to help you throughout.
✅ Help shape the programme – You’ll take part in activities that help improve the experience for future participants.
The programme is part of a government study to see how summer work experience benefits young people. Because of this, there’s a randomised selection process (more on that later), but if you’re eligible, it’s absolutely worth applying!

📢 Important Info About the UK Youth Summer Jobs Programme
The UK Youth Summer Jobs Programme isn’t just about gaining work experience—it’s part of a study to understand how paid work benefits young people like you. By participating, you’re helping shape future job opportunities for even more young people!
🔍 How Does It Work?
To ensure fairness, the programme operates as a Randomised Control Trial (RCT). Here’s what that means:
✔️ Once you register, a computer randomly assigns you to one of two groups:
✅ Group 1: You’ll receive a paid summer job placement.
❌ Group 2: You won’t receive a placement but, will receive vouchers as payment for partaking in two surveys.
This selection process is completely random—like flipping a coin—so neither you nor the organisers have control over which group you’re placed in.
As part of the UK Youth Summer Jobs Programme, everyone registered takes part in two short surveys—and you get rewarded for it! 🎉
📝 Survey 1: Complete when you register & receive a £10 voucher 💰
📝Survey 2: Complete in September & receive a £15 voucher 💰
💡 Whether you receive a paid work placement or not, you’re still involved and complete both surveys!
