The Factory Brixton youth space launch

A transformative new space dedicated to fostering community, culture and enterprise among young people opened its doors this month. The Factory Brixton, located in the heart of Central Brixton, will serve as a hub where young people can explore a range of creative opportunities, develop new skills, and connect with their peers and mentors.

The Factory Brixton is designed to address the urgent need for accessible, purpose-built spaces where young people can feel safe and explore their potential. Offering a diverse array of programmes, from enterprise development, employability support, to creative and digital training, the centre aims to set young people up to lead fulfilling lives.

The launch brought together 200 guests, including local youth, community advocates, and special guests MP Helen Hayes and Mayor of Lambeth, John-Paul Ennis. Highlights included:

  • Mayor’s Youth Awards: Mayor of Lambeth John Paul Ennis presented awards to young leaders and gave special recognition to Ting Wei, designer of The Factory Brixton’s logo.

  • Youth Panel Discussions: Young Leaders from each member organisation celebrated their achievements, shared their aspirations for the future and championed the need for youth-centred spaces.

  • Member Showcases: The enterprise pop-up shop showcased products from local brands, including Saint-Aime, WRLD XYEN, Diaspora London, Earths Coven, Heavenly Everlasting Essentials, and Nubi Collective. Spiral Skills hosted interactive skills challenges, invited guests to share well-being tips for their young service users in their new well-being room and launched their #EmpowerFutures Crowdfund campaign. Esports Youth Club hosted a gaming tournament in their free-to-access gaming pod, adding a lively competitive edge to the evening.
